Description
Lyon-Waugh Auto Group is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. You'll process a multi-state payroll for 6 company IDs, onboard new employees into our HRIS, and play a key role in positively supporting our people. Hourly Rate: $33-34
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
What You'll Do:
As our Payroll Specialist, you'll be a key partner in delivering a seamless payroll experience for our employees across multiple payroll entities. You'll work closely with HR, Accounting, and dealership leadership to manage new hire setups, employee changes, payroll updates, and ongoing payroll support.
Responsibilities include:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for six company codes across multiple locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
  • Audit payroll data, including commissions, bonuses, overtime, deductions, timekeeping, and PTO balances.
  • Review and audit technician, advisor, sales, and commission-based pay plans to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records in Paylocity, including pay changes, promotions, transfers, status changes, address updates, and other employee information.
  • Set up and maintain accurate payroll profiles for new hires in Paylocity and support the onboarding process.
  • Assign and manage documents and workflows within Paylocity for new hires, promotions, transfers, and other employee changes.
  • Respond to payroll questions from employees and managers while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and work directly with Paylocity Support to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Process off-cycle payrolls, payroll adjustments, reversals, and final paychecks for terminated employees.
  • Perform PTO accrual rollovers and calculate PTO payouts in accordance with company policy.
  • Create payroll reports and custom spreadsheets to support payroll processing, audits, and reporting needs.
  • Train managers on payroll processes, timekeeping procedures, and the effective use of Paylocity.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, payroll reconciliations, audits, and other payroll-related projects.
  • Serve as our Paylocity expert and primary resource for payroll and HRIS-related questions. Own system processes, maintain data integrity, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance and training to employees and managers to ensure effective use of the platform.

Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years' experience processing multi-company, multi-state payroll using an external payroll/HRIS platform (Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, or similar systems)
  • An understanding of employment laws that affect payroll (FLSA, Overtime, Exemptions, Classifications)
  • A proactive problem-solver who meets challenges head-on, seeking out answers and using available resources to find solutions
  • Strong Excel user
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines within deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Automotive dealership payroll experience
