Auto Dealer Payroll / HR Clerk - Dealership Payroll Experience Preferred

Earn from $50,000 to $55,000+/yr (based on experience, salary negotiable)

DeYarman Auto Group is a successful Des Moines, IA area multi-franchise auto dealer seeking an additional experienced Payroll / HR Clerk for our busy accounting department. The primary corporate accounting office is located at our Indianola Ford store but you will be required to attend meetings at our other locations in Ames and Knoxville, IA periodically. Payroll / HR Job Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding and Terminating Employees

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on schedule, including data entry, verification, and reconciliation of hours worked, overtime, and deductions

  • Post payroll data into general ledger and other adjustment entries as needed

  • Maintain and update employee records in HR payroll and benefits systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality

  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and communication with employees and benefits providers

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and benefits in a timely and professional manner

  • Support HR functions such as onboarding documentation, compliance reporting, and recordkeeping

  • Collaborate with management to ensure adherence to labor laws, company policies, and internal controls related to payroll and HR

  • Be onsite at MULTIPLE dealerships as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Automotive Payroll / HR Clerk Candidates:

  • Payroll Processing in a Dealership setting is PREFERRED

  • Proven Experience in a Payroll, HR Administrative Support, or Accounting role

  • Good Computer Skills - Familiar with Payroll Software, Excel, Microsoft Office

  • ADP Workforce Now software experience/knowledge is a PLUS

  • Experience with Payroll Processing, Benefits Administration, and Maintaining Employee Records

  • Knowledge of Employee Benefits Administration

  • Basic Understanding of Payroll Laws, Tax Regulations, and Labor Compliance

  • High Attention to Detail

  • Strong Communication Skills, both Written and Verbal

  • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

  • Confidentiality and Professionalism

  • Must be Reliable, Dependable, and Responsible
