Job description

Atlas Healthcare is seeking a Payroll Clerk to support payroll processing. Under the direction of our Payroll Director and in accordance with established policies and procedures, state and federal mandates, support payroll, benefit, and HR related tasks. The position of Payroll Clerk resides in the Business Office at 385 W Center Street, Manchester, CT.

Candidates should possess a desire for excellence, work well in a collaborative, structured, and efficient environment. Capacity to and experience in adapting to shifting priorities, attention to detail, critical thinking, and solution-oriented skills are required.

Position Requirements-Education/ Experience

  • Preferred associate degree in business administration and/or financial related field.

  • Minimum two (2) years of payroll.

  • MS Excel Proficiency.

  • Ability to compile and analyze data accurately and timely.

Essential Functions

  • Support payroll / HR processing. Including but not limited to payroll preparation support to facility HR/Payroll staff, verification of ‘accepted’ payroll(s) i.e., reasonability, validation of payroll accuracy via payroll reports, maintenance of time off and accrual balances and communication regarding payroll software requirements/changes ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Collect, review, and enter timekeeping data for all employees.

  • Calculate gross pay, overtime, retro pay, shift differentials, bonuses, and other earnings for exceptions.

  • Prepare accurate and timely weekly/biweekly payroll runs.

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the payroll system.

  • Support wage garnishment processing, including support orders and tax levies in compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Ensure data integrity, compliance with FLSA, state wage laws, and organizational policies.

  • Perform regular audits of payroll registers, earnings records, and system logs as assigned.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, leave balances, and tax forms.

  • Explain payroll policies and procedures clearly and professionally.

  • Maintain accurate files and documentation for audits.

  • Work with HR and benefits partners to ensure correct payroll deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.

  • Identify and research payroll discrepancies, errors, and adjustments.

  • Work with managers and HR to resolve issues involving time entries, benefit deductions, and wage calculations.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll information.

  • Protect sensitive data according to company policy and legal requirements.
