Job Summary

The Payroll Associate is responsible for compiling, reviewing, and entering payroll information into payroll system including payroll/timecard processing, check distribution, deduction processing and other payroll reporting requirements, analyzing and verifying data input for accuracy, and interacting with team members and supervisors to resolve any payroll issues. In addition to Payroll responsibilities, the Payroll Associate will assist the Finance Department with audit related tasks during non-payroll processing periods (approximately 40% - 50%).
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Job Description

Processes and maintains record of direct deposit, W-4 form, tip information, hours worked and resolves data discrepancies in a timely manner.Moves data from different systems using an upload process.Sets up new garnishments and tax levies, including sending reports to Legal and Gaming Commission, and mailing out letters to applicable team members.Enters and audits payroll adjustments, tips, wellness program reimbursements, voluntary deductions, key cards, gaming badges, and union adjustments, manual checks, and garnishment refunds as well as maintaining logs and spreadsheets to reconcile data and audit entries.Enters benefit adjustments and 401k loan payments/updates.Collects and records benefits in arrears payments, credits deduction accounts and provides updated arrears reports to departments on a biweekly basis.Generates and distributes detailed payroll debit report to Controller after each payroll processing.Performs various clerical duties such as opening, sorting and distributing mail; filing and faxing documents, maintaining records.Orders and maintains payroll forms and office suppliesResolves problems beyond expectations without consulting a supervisor or escalates as needed.Maintains knowledge of applicable state and federal wage, hour, and tax laws and understands departmental policies and standard operating procedures.Support Audit Department with income and tax audits.Support Compliance Department with guest requests, Title 31 and exceptions tracking and P&Ps.Attends all required classes and meetings. Follows Viejas guest service standards while performing job duties.Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained. Performs all other duties as assigned.Very good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.Must be detail-oriented, organized, values teamwork, self-motivated and ability to multitask.Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.Responsible, dependable, punctual; take pride in work.Ability to handle a high volume of work at a fast pace.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate company and team members' needs.
