Job description

The position contributes to the mission of Spurwink by ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of financial information. The Payroll Manager, under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, is responsible for managing the organization's payroll process, ensuring accurate payment and reporting of staff wages. Their responsibilities include supervising the payroll team, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring Spurwink is complying with all federal and state laws and obligations.

DUTIES
  • Supervise the processing of the organization's bi-weekly payroll while overseeing the supervision of the Payroll team .
  • Review quarterly State and Federal tax reporting prepared by ADP prior to filing .
  • Act as a liaison between Payroll and Human Resources as well as participate in the organization's HR/Finance shared meetings .
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations of payroll accounts as well as other general ledger accounts .
  • Assist with the annual financial audit as well as the yearly self-insured worker's compensation audit .
QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance; a Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) preferred. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a field related to payroll management, supervision and processing, administration of finances, and financial accountability preferred. Experience with ADP payroll processing is preferred. Must have knowledge of wage and hour laws. They must maintain a strong internal control environment that is supported by best practice and adherence to federal and state regulations.
