Trailer Operations Associate

About the Role

The Trailer Operations Associate supports the day-to-day operations of Metro Trailer Leasing by assisting customers, coordinating trailer activity, managing inventory, and supporting billing and collections efforts. This role is designed for candidates ranging from entry-level to experienced, with responsibilities adjusted based on knowledge, experience, and performance.

This position is a key part of the branch operations team and works closely with customers, drivers, vendors, sales staff, and management to ensure trailers are properly checked in and out, inventory is accurate, customer needs are addressed, and rental activity is handled efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, customer-focused, and willing to learn the trailer leasing business from the ground up.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with trailer rentals, returns, availability questions, pricing, and general account needs.
  • Support inside sales activity by answering calls, following up with customers, preparing rental information, and helping identify customer needs.
  • Check trailers in and out of the yard, including documenting unit numbers, condition, availability, and customer information.
  • Maintain accurate trailer inventory records and help ensure the yard count matches system records.
  • Coordinate with shop, yard, and operations personnel regarding trailer readiness, repairs, damage, and availability.
  • Assist with collections by contacting customers regarding past-due balances, payment status, and account follow-up.
  • Help process rental paperwork, customer forms, billing information, and other operational documents.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Monitor trailer movement, availability, and status updates in company systems.
  • Support branch management with administrative tasks, reporting, and daily operational needs.
  • Help identify damage, missing equipment, maintenance needs, or other issues during trailer check-in/check-out.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office and yard environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company software systems.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Prior experience in trailer leasing, transportation, logistics, equipment rental, collections, sales, or customer service is helpful but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in inside sales, rental operations, dispatch, logistics, transportation, or equipment leasing.
  • Familiarity with trailers, trucks, yards, rental equipment, or fleet operations.
  • Experience handling customer accounts, collections, billing, or inventory control.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and document condition accurately.
  • Comfort working both in an office environment and outside in a trailer yard when needed.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Overtime or occasional schedule adjustments may be required based on business needs.
