Position Description
The Screed Operator is responsible for working with the Paver Operator in adjusting the screed plates to ensure the material is laid properly.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adjusts the screed plates to ensure the following: the material is laid smooth, with the right thickness and is adjusted for the road crown when necessary.
  • Works with Foreman and Paver Operator in the set up for the job on a daily basis.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of the technologies of the grade and slope controls, vibratory control, extensions and cut-off shoes
  • Be able to communicate with all trades on a job site
  • Ability to work in busy/changing environment on construction sites (close proximity to equipment, pedestrian traffic, adjust to changing job site access.
  • Work with various hand tools.
  • Basic maintenance of asphalt paving equipment and tools.
  • Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient use of computer software, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 2-3 years of asphalt experience, preferred but not required
  • Experience in construction is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. May require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Asphalt Screed Operator functions. Employee will be required at times to work nights, weekends, over 40-hour work weeks.
