PROJECT ENGINEER
POSITION SUMMARY
Spicer Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transportation Highway amp; Roadway Technical Service Group. This Project Engineer will be responsible for producing designs for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects including major highways, roadways, and a variety of related infrastructure. This Project Engineer will play an essential role by joining our highly skilled and experienced team of Transportation Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. They’ll be tasked with the opportunity to utilize their technical expertise by conducting feasibility studies, project cost estimates, creating and preparing engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations. Additionally, they can expect to visit client construction sites, attend client and project meetings, and perform project research to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including major highways, roadways, and a variety of related infrastructure
  • Coordinate with design teams to prepare and develop engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations
  • Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroStation/ORD to develop project designs and provide technical expertise for design modeling
  • Apply advanced knowledge in transportation roadway design to develop creative, efficient solutions
  • Use critical thinking skills when encountering complex problems within plan sets involving roads, drainage, traffic, signing, pavement markings, sidewalk ramps, curbs, traffic maintenance and more that need resolving
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Design Engineers, technical staff, and project team members
  • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare project cost estimates
  • Perform client construction site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineers to ensure project objectives are met
  • Attend client and project meetings
  • Work closely with Project Managers on project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Prioritize tasks and displays accountability to the project team to deliver high quality projects
  • Assist marketing team with generating a project proposal

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE amp; LICENSURE
  • Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation roadway infrastructure projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Michigan
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/ORD, and Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with clients
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within a year of being hired
