Remote Mechanical Engineer Environmental information

What is the difference between Remote Mechanical Engineer Environmental vs Remote Mechanical Engineer HVAC?

AspectRemote Mechanical Engineer EnvironmentalRemote Mechanical Engineer HVAC
CertificationsPE license, environmental certificationsPE license, HVAC-specific certifications
Work EnvironmentEnvironmental projects, sustainability focusBuilding systems, climate control
Industry UsageEnvironmental agencies, consulting firmsConstruction, building services
Job FocusEnvironmental impact, regulationsHeating, ventilation, air conditioning systems

Remote Mechanical Engineer Environmental and Remote Mechanical Engineer HVAC roles share core engineering skills and often require similar credentials like a PE license. However, their focus differs: environmental engineers concentrate on sustainability and environmental regulations, while HVAC engineers specialize in climate control systems within buildings. Both roles are common in engineering firms and can be performed remotely, but their project types and industry applications vary significantly.

Can environmental mechanical engineers work remotely?

Environmental mechanical engineers can often work remotely, especially in roles focused on design, analysis, and project management that rely on computer-aided design (CAD) software and other digital tools. However, some tasks involving site inspections, equipment installation, or field testing may require on-site presence. The feasibility of remote work depends on the specific employer, project requirements, and safety considerations.

Is it possible to work remotely as a remote mechanical engineer environmental?

Remote work for environmental mechanical engineers is increasingly common, especially for roles involving design, analysis, and project management that can be performed using CAD software, simulation tools, and communication platforms. Employers may require relevant certifications and experience, but many companies offer flexible or fully remote positions depending on project needs and company policies.

Job description

Remote - USA Only (48 Contiguous States) Travel: ~10% annually

We're looking for a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Analyst to support advanced engineering simulations and mechanical design work for complex machinery, heavy equipment, and highcapacity structures. Your work directly impacts product performance, safety, and innovation across our customers' engineering programs.

You'll analyze and improve the structural mechanics of mechanical systems, lead design efforts, and contribute to cuttingedge engineering initiatives across multiple industries.

This is a remote role supporting customers nationwide, with occasional travel to fabrication shops, test sites, or field locations.

Requirements

What You'll Do
  • Perform FEA simulations (linear, nonlinear, contact, buckling, fatigue, largedeflection) using ANSYS or similar tools
  • Analyze and validate crane structures, lifting beams, rigging components, and heavy mechanical systems
  • Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
  • Conduct hand calculations to verify FEA results and support design decisions
  • Lead mechanical design from concept through prototype, testing, and field implementation
  • Support customers with rapid engineering assessments and problemsolving
  • Generate engineering reports, test plans, and work packs for fabrication and field execution
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, fabricators, and field technicians
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and process improvements
MustHave Qualifications
  • BSME 10+ years or MSME with 5+ years of hands-on, demonstrated FEA experience with the analysis of major components of heavy equipment that could be mobile or stationary equipment
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in cranes, lifting systems, or heavy mechanical equipment
  • Advanced FEA experience (ANSYS strongly preferred)
  • Strong background in structural mechanics, weldments, heavy steel structures, and loadbearing systems
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Pro/E/Creo
  • Demonstrated ability to produce welldocumented calculations, FEA reports, and design packages
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Ability to travel up to ~10%
Preferred Experience
  • Designing cranes, hoists, lifting beams, gantries, or highcapacity structures
  • Experience with hydraulic or mechanical powertrain systems
  • Familiarity with offshore, industrial, or construction lifting environments
  • Knowledge of ASME B30, API, DNV, ABS or similar standards
  • Handson exposure to fabrication, testing, or field commissioning
Work Environment
  • Fully remote (48 contiguous USA only)
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, fabrication shops, or test facilities
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and field personnel

Benefits

We value our team's well-being and offer a robust benefits package to support your professional and personal growth:

  • Competitive Compensation:ย An attractive base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Generous Time Off:ย Paid holidays, PTO, and flexible time off to recharge and maintain work-life balance.
  • Retirement Savings:ย 401(k) plan to secure your future.
  • Health and Wellness:ย Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
  • Disability Protection:ย Short-term and long-term disability plans for peace of mind.
