Precision and attention to detail are essential, as patterns dictate the final look and functionality of a product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in pattern making?

To thrive in Pattern Making, a strong understanding of garment construction, dimensional accuracy, and textile properties is essential, often supported by coursework or experience in fashion design or apparel technology. Familiarity with pattern drafting software like Gerber, Optitex, or CAD systems is typically required, and formal certifications can be an advantage. This person will translate design concepts into production-ready patterns while driving consistency, quality, and technical excellence throughout the development process. This role requires someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, mentoring others, and partnering closely with both domestic teams and overseas factories.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Engineer garments that balance aesthetics, comfort, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure patterns are optimized for efficient production without compromising quality.
  • Participate in all fit sessions.
  • Execute precise pattern corrections following fittings.
