Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Patient Care Assistant!

As a Patient Care Assistant at MercyOne, you will work collaboratively with the health care team to provide outcome/goal-based patient care. Observes and reports the patient's response and progress to interventions. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

This position is for any acute care units at the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Medical Center location(s). Please note that candidates will be required to float between both locations depending on patient census.

Areas include Cardiac/Nephrology, Post Surgical Unit, Orthopedics/Neurology Unit, and Rehabilitation Unit.

Schedule:

  • Flexible scheduling options available

  • Full time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)

  • Part time, 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week)

  • 12-hour shifts. Day shift hours 7:00am - 7:00pm. Night shift hours 7:00pm - 7:00am

  • Weekend and holiday rotation required

General Requirements:

  • Supports the team in identifying patient needs and implementing the outcome/goal-based plan of care.

  • Assists the patient care team in the delivery of care.

  • Communicates relevant clinical information to others to optimize patient outcomes/goals.

  • Performs unit-based functions as assigned

Education:

Verification (by transcript or certification) of successful completion of one of the following:

  • Nurse Aide I Course

  • Nursing Fundamentals Course

  • Nurse Aid Competency Test

  • Successful completion of the Trinity Nursing Assistant Program (TNAP)

  • Successful completion of the Competency Test, Iowa Emergency Medical Technician Certification

  • Nurse Aide II - Advanced Course is preferred and may be provided post-hire.

Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.
