Job description

Patient Services Associate

The Student Health Center (SHC) provides high-quality, affordable care and resources to students. It offers a range of confidential health services to support medical and mental health needs, as well as promotion and prevention services to guide students in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The SHC seeks a Patient Services Associate who will welcome and assist students with appointments, tests, urgent care and other services offered at the Health Center's locations at Mount Vernon Campus and Foggy Bottom Campus. Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling or rescheduling appointments, and maintaining medical and immunization records and accounts. Provides exceptional customer service. Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. Checks and answers the clinic's immunization and main administration email in a timely and courteous manner. Provides information to patients who seek appointments with specialists. Prints summary of visit, immunization records and medical record requests for students. Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations. Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. Keeps business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs. Assists with the collection and distribution of mail in the Clinic. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies. Assists Patient Service Specialist with review of student immunization record submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance with District of Columbia Immunization Law requirements. Performs administrative duties including but not limited to greeting patients, scheduling/rescheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer experience at both the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon Campus Locations. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:30pm, Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
