As a patient navigator, sometimes referred to as a patient advocate, your responsibilities are to help coordinate a patient’s experience in the healthcare system. You plan care goals for patients, support and educate them about treatment options, help them understand referrals, assist with admissions and discharge paperwork, and advocate for them to ensure they receive the highest quality care. Patient navigators work for community health organizations, hospitals, and insurance providers. Some are full-time employees, while others are volunteers or freelancers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Patient Navigator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Patient Navigator, you need a solid understanding of healthcare systems, patient advocacy, and care coordination, often supported by a degree in health sciences or social work.
