Job description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing critical support in an intensive care unit setting. As an Arrhythmia Technician, you will play a vital role in monitoring cardiac rhythms and supporting patient care through clerical and communication duties.
General Summary
This role involves continuous observation of telemetry monitors, ensuring equipment functionality, and acting as a key communication hub within the nursing station. You will be responsible for identifying rhythm patterns and promptly notifying nursing staff of any significant changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established patient safety protocols, including infection prevention measures.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms continuously and recognize abnormal patterns.
  • Ensure telemetry equipment is operational and notify trained personnel before leaving the monitoring area.
  • Communicate promptly with nursing staff regarding monitoring difficulties or patient rhythm changes.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, printing, copying, charge entry, and supply ordering to support unit operations.
  • Maintain accurate patient identification on charts and prepare records for scanning.
  • Manage telemetry logs and document rhythm changes during treatments.
  • Measure and record rate, PR interval, QRS, QT interval, and rhythm on telemetry strips every four hours or as needed.
  • Keep patient information boards current and answer phones with excellent customer service skills.
  • Coordinate with ancillary departments to schedule tests and procedures.
  • Adapt positively to changes and uphold professional standards in appearance, behavior, and attendance.

Education
High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
At least one year of experience in clerical, receptionist, or hospital duties is preferred. Strong organization, time management, typing, and basic computer skills are essential.
Certification/License
Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire is required.
Mental/Physical Requirements
This position demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. Exposure to communicable diseases through blood and body fluids is possible. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
