Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg Unit at the Northland Medical Center located in Princeton, MN. M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center is conveniently located on Hwy 169 in Princeton, Minnesota. We serve a broad community, including Princeton and the surrounding area to provide convenient access to expert, coordinated care. We are recognized for having high employee engagement results, high patient experience, and an atmosphere of accountability. 

The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical patients with sophisticated medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. This unique unit consists of adult medical and surgical, limited pediatrics surgical patients, and adult intensive care patients. Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the NIGHT shift with an every third weekend (F,S,S) rotation and a holiday rotation.

About Our Med – Surg 1 Department at the Northland Medical Center: 

  • 22 Beds – Medical Surgical Unit. 4 Bed ICU 
    • Care Delivery: 3-4 patients per RN on Day/Eve Shift, 5-6 patients on Night Shift.  
  • Our RNs work in both the ICU and Med Surg units. 
  • We currently have 50 nurses, 20 nursing assistants, and 1 HUC.  
  • Free parking onsite!  
  • RNs are responsible to achieve and maintain our excellent patient care outcomes by coordinating compassionate, well-rounded care. 
    • This may include helping patients to set achievable goals for discharge, establishing and updating a plan of care, full physical assessment and post-operative care for our medical surgical patient population.  
  • Adaptability, willingness to learn, and critical thinking skills are all important to be successful in this position. 
  • We are looking for someone who will accel in a fast-paced environment, someone who knows how to problem solve, who is flexible and collaborative, and who is dedicated to always putting the patient first. 

Responsibilities:

The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. 

  • Communicating effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of care. 
  • Assessing and documenting the learning needs of the patient and family. Developing an individualized education plan for patients and families based on identified needs. 
  • Actively participating in creating and implementing improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, customer experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency and effectiveness outcomes. 
  • Complying with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures. 
  • Coordinating with the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation. 
  • Actively participating in the development and achievement of department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement). 
  • Maintaining knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. 
  • Performing other responsibilities as needed/assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing 
  • RN will work both ICU and Med Surg 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 1 year RN Experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
