Job description

Health Center Staff

Performs administrative and clinical tasks to keep the health centers of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky running smoothly and to provide customer services and patient care, excluding physical examinations, within a health care setting as part of a health care team.

Mon 9am-5pm

Tue 11a-7pm

Wed 9a-5pm

Thur 11a-7pm

Provides excellent customer satisfaction through customer service to PPINKK patients. Including demonstrating respect for individual needs and backgrounds of patients, interacts professionally in person and over the telephone with patients, co-workers and others

Use the electronic health records system to schedule appointments, enter patient demographic information and check out patients.

Interviews patients, measures vital signs as needed (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts.

Complies with all state and federal reporting requirements, including reporting possible child abuse.

Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and may also dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.

Responsible for various financial procedures including providing cash receipts, patient financial history interviews, preparing bank deposits and completing various insurance or governmental billings forms.

Dispense supplies.

Maintain records, transfers, filing, special health center logs.

Provide client education.

Provide patient referrals.

Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

After training which encompasses pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic systems, may perform all PPINK listed waived CLIA tests including for example, hemoglobin, urine dipstick, and both high and low sensitivity pregnancy tests.

After specialized training may be asked to perform moderate complexity laboratory tests.

After OSHA training in blood borne pathogens and venipuncture technique may do blood draws and DMPA injections depending on the needs of the HC.

Documentation, reporting and notifications of patient of results of moderate or high proficiency tests with supervision according to agency/policy/procedure.

Assist clinician in exam room as requested.

Complies with all safety and infectious control measure in work site as stated in the Policy and Procedures Manual and adheres to all OSHA Standards.

Complies with PPINK's HIPAA policy and Confidentiality policy.

May be required to travel to other health centers to cover as needed.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent

A minimum of 1 years' experience in a medical environment or 2 years of working in a direct customer service role.

BLS Certification

Preferred experience:

Experience in phlebotomy

Experience with injections
