The successful candidate will engage in comprehensive patient management, from assessment to treatment to follow-up, in collaboration with our experienced physicians. This role operates within the full scope of licensure, emphasizing accountability for care delivery, patient education, and coordinated treatment transitions.

Work Environment

This full-time role requires the Physician Assistant to work onsite at our Surgical Center. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:00 PM, encompassing approximately 40 hours per week. Our Surgical Center is designed to promote a collaborative atmosphere among healthcare providers, ensuring that patient care strategies are meticulously developed and implemented. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals to achieve optimal outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and review comprehensive medical histories of patients to establish diagnoses.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work and imaging, to support accurate medical assessments.
  • Diagnose various health conditions within the scope of practice and develop treatment protocols tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Create and manage personalized treatment plans for conditions such as chronic illnesses and post-operative care.
  • Prescribe and oversee medication regimens while monitoring patient responses to treatments.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and schedules to ensure thorough continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Promote and manage overall health and well-being utilizing a proactive approach.
  • Engage in daily rounds and coordinate care transitions through organized multiprofessional teams.
  • Continuously enhance your knowledge of new treatments, technologies, and best practices through research and professional development.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The Surgical Physician Assistant will primarily work with patients undergoing surgical interventions, including pre-operative assessments and postoperative follow-ups. Our patient population encompasses diverse age groups and medical backgrounds, requiring individualized care strategies and clear communication to address each patient’s unique health concerns and progress.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Active state licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
  • At least 2 years of proven clinical experience in a surgical setting or family health clinic.
  • Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and managing a spectrum of health conditions.
  • Excellent communication abilities, adept at interacting effectively with patients and various healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and a patient-centered approach to healthcare.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialization in family medicine or a surgical specialty.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices for patient safety.
  • A team-oriented mindset, able to collaborate positively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Continuous improvement mentality and willingness to adapt to new challenges.
  • Possession of a valid DEA number.

The salary for the Surgical Physician Assistant position ranges from $140,000 to $160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
