  • Provide manual-guided counseling (Recovery Guide counseling) to participants assigned to ICC-MOUD.
  • Meet approximately weekly with participants assigned to ICC-MOUD for the first 12 weeks of treatment.
  • Recovery Guides use active learning approaches to engage participants in learning about opioid use disorder, MOUD with buprenorphine, and the role of MOUD in treatment and recovery.
  • Engage participants in behavioral change, making use of tools from the Recovery Guide toolkit to help participants develop short-term, achievable, critical goals and objectives (including, for example, returning for treatment appointments and adhering to prescribed MOUD) and to develop with the participant specific Recovery Plan Agreements to achieve the objectives.
  • Track the participant's progress implementing the plans and achieving the objectives and work with the participant to revise the plans as needed to increase success in accomplishing the objectives.
  • Must have roots or connections with the community providers.
  • Must be willing to participate in Recovery Guiding training and supervision.
  • Must be willing to document recovery guide sessions and other related research documents.
  • Recovery Guides follow up on visits, remind participants about upcoming appointments, and schedule assessments in advance.
  • Identify specific, individual needs and steps the participant can take to support their sustained recovery (e.g., accessing social services, homelessness services, etc.).
