Job description

Position Summary
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Histology Manager to lead and inspire our busy Histology Department. In this role, you’ll oversee daily operations, ensure CAP and OSHA compliance, and drive initiatives that elevate quality, efficiency, and team performance. While this position is primarily managerial, the ideal candidate is also willing and able to provide hands-on support during busy periods or staffing shortages. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and knowledge of histology operations are essential to fostering a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a talented team of 24 histotechnologists and lab assistants, cultivating a positive and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee departmental operations, ensuring adherence to SOPs and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP).
  • Maintain quality control, conduct audits, implement corrective actions, and track key metrics.
  • Manage lab equipment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and supply inventory.
  • Develop and deliver staff training programs, provide mentorship, and support ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and vendors to optimize workflows and address operational challenges.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years proven histology leadership experience in a high-volume anatomic pathology (A/P) laboratory.
  • HTL(ASCP) preferred or HT(ASCP).
  • Strong technical knowledge of histology procedures and laboratory operations.
  • Familiarity with CAP, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
