Job Summary
At Prevea Health the Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist are responsible for performing routine laboratory tests and procedures. These positions play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data that will assist providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
What you will do
• Collect, process, and correctly label specimens such as but not limited to blood, urine, and tissue for analysis.
• Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, immunology, urinalysis and chemistry. Ensuring accurate test results by following quality control protocols.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure they are properly functioning. Making sure to troubleshoot any technical issues with equipment and perform routine maintenance.
Education Qualifications
• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Associate's program OR Medical Laboratory Science Bachelor's program Required
Skills and Abilities
• Possess effective written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of current medical terminology and laboratory equipment/care of equipment.
• Must be able to follow written protocols, utilizing specific laboratory training to perform laboratory testing.
• Must be able to interpret and analyze numerical data in relation to known patient information and testing methodology,
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Fosters work and patient/customer relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
• Possess skills to effectively problem solve.
• Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy levels.
• Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone and office equipment.
Licenses and Certifications
• This candidate must possess either the qualifications of a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Medical Laboratory Technician: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technician (AMT) within 1 Year Required
