Job description

Overview

Full-Time Estate CaretakerDelray Beach, FloridaLocal candidates, only!

A private family in Delray Beach is seeking a full-time Estate Caretaker with strong hands-on maintenance capabilities to serve as the operational anchor of their oceanfront residence. This is a newly created full-time role designed to consolidate property oversight and day-to-day maintenance under one highly capable person, reducing vendor dependency and creating a more streamlined, well-run home environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes genuine pride in the condition of a property and is fully capable of handling the majority of day-to-day maintenance and upkeep independently - whether that means picking up a drill, snaking a drain, patching a tile, or troubleshooting a water heater. This is not a vendor-heavy role - the expectation is that most work gets done in-house, with outside contractors brought in only when a project genuinely requires it. The family runs a quiet, well-organized household and is looking for a professional who brings that same energy: calm, competent, and proactive.Schedule

  • Predominantly Monday through Friday during standard business hours
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours or weekend requests as needed
  • On-call availability for emergencies as they arise

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all property maintenance, repairs, and ongoing upkeep of the interior and exterior
  • Handle routine hands-on maintenance independently - including minor plumbing, light fixture replacement, tile repair, epoxy patching, door adjustments, drilling and installation, attic access, and general troubleshooting
  • Manage all landscaping on the property, including care of plants, trees, and grounds - consolidating and reducing current vendor footprint
  • Maintain the pool and hot tub, including routine care and chemical management
  • Care for indoor plants throughout the home
  • Source, vet, and coordinate vendors for projects outside the scope of independent repair; submit proposals to the principals for approval prior to engagement
  • Troubleshoot and manage home systems including HVAC, water heater, and other mechanical systems; escalate to licensed contractors when required
  • Manage two personal vehicles - regular cleaning, fueling, and general upkeep
  • Communicate daily updates and flag items via group text; provide end-of-week written updates
  • Utilize project management tools to track open items and ongoing projects
  • Be available for urgent after-hours situations

Qualifications

  • Located within a commutable distance to Delray Beach, Florida
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Prior experience managing or maintaining a private residence, estate, or high-end property
  • Experience with oceanfront or coastal properties and an understanding of salt air's impact on materials and systems
  • Pool maintenance experience required
  • Comfortable with landscaping and plant care - no green thumb required, but genuine familiarity expected
  • Strong vendor management and sourcing skills
  • Proficient with text-based communication and project management platforms such as Trello or Asana
  • Professional, discreet, and comfortable working within a private family home
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Must be willing to undergo a detailed background check and provide strong employment references

Compensation and Benefits

  • $140,000++ per year | depending on experience
  • Healthcare compensation - 80% covered by employer
  • 10 days of paid vacation
  • 5 paid sick days
  • Discretionary bonus
