About CLX Engineering: CLX Engineering designs and supports automation and controls systems for major infrastructure projects across the United States, with a strong focus on airport baggage handling systems and large industrial automation environments. Our work keeps critical systems running behind the scenes in places like major airports, manufacturing facilities, and large-scale commercial environments. From installation and troubleshooting to system commissioning, our technicians and engineers are the backbone of that work. As our Atlanta operation continues to grow, we are expanding our field team and looking for skilled Controls Field Technicians who enjoy solving problems, working hands-on with automation systems, and supporting complex projects in the field. 


 Role Overview: The Controls Field Technician supports the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of industrial control systems across customer sites and CLX project locations. 


This is a leveled role (Controls Field Technician I - III). Your experience, technical skillset, and interview performance will determine the level at which an offer may be extended. 


Candidates may be considered for:


Controls Field Technician I - Technicians building foundational experience in controls systems and electrical troubleshooting.

Controls Field Technician II - Experienced technicians capable of independently troubleshooting systems and supporting project execution.

Controls Field Technician III - Senior technicians who lead field troubleshooting, support PLC programming, and help guide junior technicians during project work. This role is ideal for technicians with backgrounds in:

  • Industrial electrical work
  • Controls systems installation
  • Automation troubleshooting
  • Airport or large facility maintenance environments

What You'll Do:

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and control system documentation
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues in field environments
  • Support installation and startup of automation and controls equipment
  • Perform diagnostics and system testing on control components
  • Assist with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming adjustments
  • Build or modify control panels based on electrical prints when required
  • Identify system issues and implement corrective solutions
  • Work closely with Integration Engineers and project teams to complete system integrations
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams when resolving issues
  • Maintain safety standards including PPE and site safety procedures
  • Utilize electrical testing tools including multimeters and diagnostic equipment

Requirements

  Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or Associate degree with equivalent applied experience
  • 2+ years of electrical, automation, or controls experience for higher technician levels
  • Experience with PLC software such as Studio 5000 / Logix 5000 or similar platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical or control system components
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state
  • Ability to work non-standard hours when required
  • Ability to obtain a passport
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing
