PRN PACU Recovery RN

Join our award-winning perioperative team at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast as a PRN PACU Recovery RN. In this critical role, you will support our high-acuity surgical service line by managing immediate Phase I and Phase II post-operative recoveries and stabilizing patients within our designated Level III Trauma Center. You will provide essential airway support, monitor complex neurological and cardiac statuses, and collaborate with the surgical team across a diverse mix of advanced procedures, including heart and vascular surgery, advanced orthopedics, neurosurgery, and bariatric procedures. As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in the immediate post-operative care of surgical patients. Your responsibilities will include managing airway support, closely monitoring neurological and cardiac status, and responding promptly to any complications or side effects. You will provide initial wound care to the patients' surgical site and ensure patient stability during recovery. You will collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia team. This role includes on-call availability during select non-business hours which will be discussed in the interview.

What you will do in this role:

  • Manages the full clinical cycle by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care from pre-admission through discharge.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and procedures accurately while assisting physicians with specialized examinations and tests.
  • Observes patient conditions, documents activities confidentially, and escalates significant clinical changes or drug reactions through the chain of command.
  • Responds promptly to call lights, assists with personal hygiene, and respects diverse cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values.
  • Promotes a collaborative team environment by sharing clinical knowledge and skills with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participates actively in hospital performance initiatives to optimize patient safety and clinical outcomes.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS issued from American Heart Association required
  • 1 year of clinical Recovery Room experience as a licensed RN required.
