About the White River State Park:White River State Park boasts world-class attractions and destinations that offer distinctive experiences for every visitor. Greenspaces, trails, trees, and waterways co-mingle alongside cultural, educational, and recreational attractions across 250 beautiful acres in downtown Indianapolis.
Role Overview:
As Event Staff you will support the events team at White River State Park and help ensure events run smoothly. This role interacts often with visitors, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working with the public and is passionate about the park. Ideal candidates are interested in growing their career in tourism, events, or community outreach.
Salary Statement:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $18.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this roles are as follows:
  • Be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable ambassador for White River State Park.
  • Assist events team, vendors, and event planners in load-in and load-out of events.
  • Attend planning meetings with events team
  • Works with Live Nation Sales Manager and event planners to successfully attract and execute third-party rentals in the park.
  • Serve as on-site event liaison for third-party rentals. Ability to work morning, nights, and weekends as events calendar warrants.
  • Assist Community Outreach & Event Coordinator with execution of WRSP in-house events such as movie nights, crafts and coffee, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
  • Position requires a high school diploma. Preference will be given to those pursuing a degree in event management or related fields.
  • Unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Superior time management skills and the willingness to work early morning, late evening, weekend, or holiday shift.
  • Ability to work independently at times and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work outdoors with occasional physical exertion.
  • Strong written and oral communications; position requires frequent interactions with park visitors, commissioners, and state government leaders.
  • Familiarity with White River State Park.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex challenges.
  • Flexibility to adjust work functions as events warrant.
  • Must be trustworthy and able to keep confidential information.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
