Job Description
Pullen Arts Center is currently accepting applications from artists who have experience teaching Painting & Drawing to youth and/or adults. We are seeking Teaching Artists who have a passion for their medium and are excited to share their love of creating with others.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Artists must be able to:
- Develop the curriculum for classes they propose and identify supply/equipment needs for classes well in advance of class start dates.
- Work with students with a wide range of artistic experience levels and abilities and with a wide range of personality types.
- Be supportive and encouraging to students, meeting each student where they are in their artistic development.
- Provide and deliver an inclusive experience to the arts and creativity.
- Communicate with front desk staff and center Director/Assistant Director if assistance prepping student work between classes, fixing equipment, or ordering supplies is needed.
- Assist in making sure the studio is operating safely and efficiently and complete required PRCR training.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interacts with participants in a positive, caring, and respectful manner throughout the program hours.
- Creates lesson plans; communicates necessary supplies with Pullen Arts Center staff.
- Prepares studio/program area with necessary equipment and returns all equipment to proper storage.
- Maintains a happy, safe environment.
- Ensures that all participants are adequately supervised at all times.
- Enforces safety rules, guidelines, and policies of the Arts Center.
- Actively engages, orients, and assists all participants.
- Promotes a professional image and always maintains a clean and safe environment.

Many of the students who enroll in classes at Pullen Arts Center are new to art and art making. Share 1-2 ideas for designing a painting or drawing class that would both engage and support beginners. You may choose to focus on youth or adult examples.
