Circulation Clerk 1

The Jefferson County Library, Windsor Branch is seeking a part time (16 hours per week) Circulation Clerk 1 with customer service experience to join our team. The successful applicant will be experienced, enthusiastic, and able to work with other staff to provide outstanding customer service, always striving to meet the needs of our patrons.

Scheduling:

Part time - 16 hours per week

One to two evenings and possibly two Saturdays per month

Vacation time and sick leave with prorated holiday pay

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary customer service
  • Maintain friendly and productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels and in all departments
  • Answer all incoming phone calls
  • Assist patrons checking in and out materials
  • Issue library cards to new patrons
  • Shelve returned items

Required Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Legible handwriting and strong spelling skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and job-related computer systems and programs
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System
  • Ability to file both alphabetically and numerically
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to retain accuracy in repetitive tasks
  • Ability to perform detailed work in an organized manner
  • Ability to push / pull a loaded book cart (up to 25 pounds)
  • Ability to communicate clearly with members of the public
  • Excellent telephone manners
  • Flexibility in adapting to changes in a rapidly evolving work environment

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience using Missouri Evergreen ILS
  • Experience using eBooks and other downloadable media
  • Proven track record of long-term employment
