Position Summary

The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the dealership parts department, including inventory management, profitability, customer satisfaction, team leadership, and operational efficiency. This role works closely with service, sales, and fixed operations leadership to ensure the parts department supports overall dealership performance while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with automotive parts experience, inventory expertise, and a proven ability to drive departmental growth, accountability, and profitability.

Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Operations & Leadership
  • Lead and manage all daily operations of the parts department
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop parts department team members
  • Establish performance expectations and maintain accountability standards
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on customer service and operational excellence
  • Conduct regular team meetings and ongoing employee development conversations
Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels to support service department efficiency and customer demand
  • Monitor inventory aging, obsolescence, and turnover performance
  • Oversee parts ordering, receiving, stocking, returns, warranties, and core management
  • Ensure accurate inventory controls, cycle counts, and annual physical inventories
  • Analyze sales trends and adjust inventory strategies accordingly
Customer Service & Sales Performance
  • Ensure exceptional service is provided to technicians, retail customers, and wholesale accounts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, technicians, and customers
  • Identify opportunities to grow retail, wholesale, and accessory sales

Financial Performance
  • Monitor departmental profitability, gross margin, expenses, and productivity

  • Manage departmental expenses within budget expectations
  • Collaborate with dealership leadership on forecasting and operational planning
Compliance & Process Management
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer programs and dealership policies
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe department facilities
  • Implement and improve processes that increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for warranties, returns, and inventory
Qualifications
  • Previous automotive parts management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts operations, inventory management, and dealership systems
  • Proven leadership and team development experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dealership environment
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
