What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Business Partner plays a key role in partnering with the business to deliver strategic talent outcomes and workforce solutions. This role focuses on attracting top talent, advising hiring leaders, and shaping proactive sourcing and hiring strategies aligned to business priorities. Operating within a matrixed Talent Acquisition model, this role delivers sector hiring outcomes (solid line reporting) while aligning to enterprise TA strategy, standards, and governance through the TA COE (dotted line reporting).
 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment for all open roles across Aecon's Utilities division, including sourcing, screening resumes, conducting telephone screens, interviewing, reference checks, and composing and extending job offers
  • Identify strategies and sourcing channels to build a pipeline of candidates for assigned portfolio
  • Establish connections, maintain and leverage a professional online and social media presence, and prospect talent through your network
  • Provide trusted advice to hiring managers by using diverse interviewing and assessment techniques to validate candidate skills and competencies
  • Consult with hiring managers and provide updates on the labour market, candidate availability, sourcing methods, recruitment risks, and relocation considerations
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the business to understand and forecast recruitment needs and initiatives 
  • Assist and consult on the development of job descriptions and job postings
  • Guide candidates throughout the recruitment process and ensure a smooth onboarding experience in partnership with the Human Resources team
  • Identify opportunities for process-improvement
  • Use recruitment data and metrics to gain valuable insights into recruitment trends and incorporate into overall recruitment strategies
  • Create and execute an external sourcing plan to build a strong, diverse talent pools and successfully identify, attract, and source / hire qualified talent
  • Take initiative to develop strong understanding of the workforce planning needs and talent roadmap of Aecon's sector and industry segments
  • Develop strong connection to Aecon's values to appropriately promote our workplace culture, career opportunities, and benefits of working at Aecon
  • Ensure all candidate data and information is captured and saved in ATS, and leverage collaborative sourcing/recruitment tools, including LinkedIn Recruiter and Indeed
  • Deliver an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience
  • Build and maintain brand awareness, a network of industry contacts, and strategic external partnerships
  • Regular engagement with internal partners including Talent Acquisition COE, HR leads, and operational leaders to review strategic hiring needs and support recruiting activities across the sector.

What You Bring to the Team: 

  • 5+ years' recruitment experience with at least three (3) years' leading end-to-end recruitment efforts in a strategic TA Business Partner (or equivalent) role, in a large, matrixed global organization; construction, infrastructure, engineering, or related industry experience is a strong asset
  • Experience in hiring across Canada and the U.S.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or business-related area an asset
  • Exceptional organization and emerging project management skills with proven ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborative self-starter and creative problem solver 
  • Experience with sourcing tools such as Indeed and LinkedIn Recruiter 
  • Experience working on hard to fill roles and high-volume sourcing scenarios
  • Able to operate independently to create recruitment sourcing pipelines and build a talent community
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
  • Mix of both agency and in-house experience is an asset.

This role follows a hybrid work model, combining inoffice collaboration and flexibility, with an expectation of three days per week in the office.  We would consider someone based out of our Etobicoke, ON, Montreal, QC, Calgary, AB, Vancouver, BC or Abbotsford, BC office.

The expected pay range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 CAD per year

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
