Partner Success information

What is a partner success?

Partner Success roles focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with a company's business partners. Professionals in these positions ensure that partners achieve their desired outcomes when collaborating with the company, providing support, guidance, and resources as needed. They often act as the main point of contact, helping partners navigate challenges and maximize the value of the partnership. Typical tasks include onboarding new partners, addressing concerns, monitoring performance metrics, and driving mutual growth initiatives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a partner success manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Partner Success Manager, you need strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and a background in business or account management, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and partner management software is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration skills help you build trust and effectively address partner needs. These competencies are essential for driving partner satisfaction, retention, and mutual business growth.

What is the difference between Partner Success vs Customer Success Manager?

Work EnvironmentCollaborates with external partners and internal teamsWorks directly with end customers and internal support teams
Required CredentialsOften requires industry-specific knowledge, relationship management skillsRequires customer service, communication, and product knowledge

Partner Success professionals focus on managing relationships with external partners to foster growth and collaboration, while Customer Success Managers work directly with end customers to ensure satisfaction and retention. Both roles require strong communication skills and industry knowledge but differ mainly in their target audiences and relationship types.

How does a partner success professional typically collaborate with internal teams to support external partners?

Partner Success professionals frequently work cross-functionally, coordinating with sales, product, and customer support teams to ensure that external partners receive timely assistance and resources. They act as a bridge, communicating partner needs and feedback internally, and aligning company offerings with partner goals. This collaboration helps resolve issues efficiently, drive mutual growth, and foster long-term relationships. Expect regular meetings and joint projects with various departments to ensure partner satisfaction and success.

You will be responsible for developing strong partner relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring long-term success through proactive account management. Your main missions will include:

  • Own and develop relationships with German-speaking partners across the DACH region and wider Europe.
  • Build a deep understanding of partner business models, customer bases, service portfolios, infrastructure environments, and commercial objectives.
  • Create and execute partner growth plans focused on adoption, retention, expansion, upselling, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the use of products, services, and platform capabilities within partner organizations.
  • Manage renewals and support commercial discussions related to contracts, usage, and future growth opportunities.
  • Monitor partner health indicators, including satisfaction, engagement, adoption, revenue performance, and churn risks.
  • Lead regular business reviews and strategic discussions with partner stakeholders.
  • Support partner onboarding, product adoption, service launches, and expansion initiatives.
  • Coordinate partner needs across technical, sales, marketing, product, finance, and support teams.
  • Ensure escalations are managed effectively with clear ownership, communication, and resolution follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate account plans, forecasts, renewal information, and opportunity tracking through CRM tools.
  • Provide structured reporting on partner activities, risks, opportunities, and business performance.
  • Share partner feedback with internal teams to help improve products, services, and processes.
  • Represent the organization professionally during partner meetings, industry discussions, and virtual events.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong relationship management skills with commercial awareness and experience working with technology-focused customers or partners. The required qualifications and skills include:

  • Fluent German and English communication skills, with the ability to lead strategic and commercial conversations in both languages.
  • 3+ years of experience in Partner Success, Customer Success, Account Management, Partner Management, or a similar commercial relationship role.
  • Experience working with B2B technology products, services, or software solutions.
  • Strong consultative approach with proven ability to build trusted relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience increasing account value through adoption, expansion, upselling, or cross-selling.
  • Experience managing renewals, retention strategies, and customer or partner success initiatives.
  • Confidence leading business reviews, account planning sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Ability to understand business models and connect technology solutions to measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills, ownership mindset, prioritization abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed technical and commercial teams.
  • Experience using CRM systems, forecasts, account plans, and structured reporting processes.

Additional experience that would be considered an advantage:

  • Background working with Cloud Service Providers, Managed Service Providers, hosting companies, telecom providers, or infrastructure software vendors.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, storage, Kubernetes, automation, or cloud management platforms.
  • Experience with infrastructure software licensing, subscriptions, usage-based pricing, or service-provider business models.
  • Experience supporting partners that build, operate, or resell services based on infrastructure technologies.
  • Familiarity with DACH markets and partner ecosystems.
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar account management platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
Benefits:
  • Remote work opportunities from Europe, with contractor options available in multiple countries.
  • Flexible working hours to support a balanced and autonomous working style.
  • High level of ownership, visibility, and impact within an international environment.
  • Opportunity to work with a distributed global team.
  • Support for private medical insurance depending on location.
  • Additional benefits and perks based on country, residency, location, and seniority.
