Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, pursuing and generating new business opportunities and expanding client relationships that support the company's strategic priorities in engineering, testing and environmental services. This role assists with driving revenue growth by acquiring new clients, strengthening strategic partnerships and increasing the branch's presence across both public and private sectors.
Working collaboratively with operations, marketing and technical teams, the Business Development Manager leverages UES' specialized expertise to build strategic relationships, shape pursuits and support long-term growth initiatives while identifying prospects, cultivating leads, and managing the end-to-end sales processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading strategic business development initiatives across key markets.
- Identifying, developing, and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Building, strengthening, and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients.
- Executing sales goals set by the Branch Manager and Regional leadership.
- Generating profitable revenue by identifying qualified leads.
- Managing a robust sales pipeline using the company's CRM.
- Ensuring lead times and communication quality are maintained.
- Coordinating the preparation, submission and follow-up of proposals.
- Maintaining consistent communication with clients and internal teams.
- Assisting and attending selected marketing and networking events.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in a marketing discipline.
- Ability to foster and maintain good relationships at all levels.
- Comfort with industry technologies and standard office software.
- Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to deliver and communicate goals.
- Highly adaptable with exceptional listening, reading, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
- Progressive business development experience.
- Proven track record of building client relationships and securing contracts.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Experience with CRM platforms and business development reporting tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to client sites and industry events.
Travel requirements include:
- Regular travel, up to 50% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements.
- Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs.
- Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices.
- Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
Physical demands and work environment include:
- On-site office requirements include working at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment in a climate-controlled office environment.
- Field environment includes work at outdoor sites including wetlands, forests, grasslands, construction zones, and undeveloped land.
