Teaching
  • Develop learner‑centered lesson plans
  • Employ teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles
  • Incorporate, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning, clinical, and laboratory environments
  • Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
  • Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate
  • Update and revise curriculum to maintain currency with state and professional guidelines
  • Develop new courses as needed to support the instructional mission

Administration
  • Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces, including upkeep of assigned equipment
  • Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials, and maintain safe working conditions
  • Maintain student records (e.g., grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology‑based programs (e.g., Trajecsys, Navigate, Canvas, SelfService, Colleague, Web Advisor, Moodle)
  • Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations
Student Support
  • Support students in clinical settings
  • Serve as a liaison between GTCC and the clinical settings
  • Conduct recruiting activities
  • Address student concerns in a supportive and timely manner
  • Provide academic advising
  • Promote retention/persistence by assisting students to develop strategies for success
  • Assist students with the registration and graduation process
  • Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate
  • Maintain current and accurate student clinical and academic records
College Service
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff from other divisions/departments to promote communication, coordinate schedules, and support student success
  • Serve on department, division, and college committees
  • Participate in GTCC institutional initiatives
  • Collaborate with educational partners, business/industry, and/or external agencies as appropriate to promote the instructional mission of GTCC
  • Support collegiality and teaching excellence by actively participating in the professional development of new and veteran faculty (e.g., mentoring and peer observation)
  • Participate in extracurricular student activities/clubs
  • Attend college professional development sessions, college/division/department meetings, graduation, and convocation, as required
  • Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork
  • Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor
Education Required
  • Associate’s degree in Medical Sonography from an institutionally accredited college/university recognized by the Department of Education, with the ability to attain a Bachelor’s degree within 2 years of employment
  • Graduate of a Medical Sonography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC‑DMS)
  • Current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) credential
Education Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sonography, or a related field of study from an institutionally accredited college/university recognized by the Department of Education
  • Strong preference for current ARDMS Specialty Credential in Vascular
  • Additional ARDMS Specialty Credentials (e.g., Abdominal, Breast, Cardiac, Musculoskeletal, etc.)
Experience Required
  • Three (3) years experience in Medical Sonography clinical practice environment
  • One (1) year experience instructing Sonography students enrolled in an accredited program
Experience Preferred
  • Experience in a community college setting
  • Greater than three (3) years of experience in a Medical Sonography clinical practice
  • Greater than one (1) year experience instructing Sonography students in an accredited program
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
