Job description

Overview
Hourly Pay Rate: $25.00 to $33.00
Schedule: 8am - 1pm (Flexible on hours.)
Part-Time (Up to 25 hours a week.)
New Haven is a private boarding school and residential treatment center for young women in grades 7-12, accredited by COGNIA. Our mission is to awaken ambition for learning, resiliency, and leadership. At New Haven, we believe that strong relationships are central to the healing process, and we support both the emotional and academic growth of our students.
We are currently seeking a hands-on, experiential teacher to join our team at our Stabilization and Assessment facility in Spanish Fork. This is a unique opportunity to work in a small, nurturing, and highly collaborative teaching environment where innovation and creativity are encouraged.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver instruction for all classes, adapting lessons for different learning levels and special education needs.
  • Grade assignments promptly and update grades and behavior notes weekly in BestNotes.
  • Track and report IEP goals, review student testing, and administer educational assessments as needed.
  • Maintain curriculum files with lesson plans, activities, and evaluations for each course.
  • Attend weekly staff and treatment team meetings, sharing updates on student progress and behavior.
  • Contact parents weekly to provide updates on student academic performance.
  • Develop and implement support plans for students earning below a C-.
  • Monitor student safety by reviewing levels weekly and responding accordingly.
  • Collaborate with school districts, educational consultants, and support core teachers with interventions.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and participate in the S&A L10 team.

Qualifications
  • Utah State Certified in Secondary Education (6-12) with English endorsement (or working toward it).
  • Special Education Mild/Moderate Endorsement required.
  • Strong knowledge of subject matter, teaching methods, and Special Education procedures.
  • Familiarity with company policies and student-related challenges.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and coworkers.
  • Ability to adapt to a wide range of learning, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and navigating online systems like BestNotes.
  • Teaching experience beyond student teaching is preferred but not required.
  • Year-round teaching schedule (210 days) with 6 weeks off during summer.
