Position Summary

The Dietary Aide II / Universal Worker plays a vital role in supporting participant health, nutrition, comfort, and well-being. This position combines food service responsibilities with direct participant care duties in our Day Center environment.

The ideal candidate will assist with meal preparation and service, maintain kitchen sanitation standards, provide personal care assistance to participants, support recreational activities, and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure exceptional participant care.

Key ResponsibilitiesDietary Services
  • Set up, serve, and clean up meal service areas
  • Read meal tickets and serve meals according to prescribed diets, allergies, and preferences
  • Assemble and transport meals and food carts
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and sanitize work areas
  • Complete required food service logs and documentation
  • Receive, organize, label, and store food deliveries
  • Stock participant pantries and dining supplies
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Follow all food safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines
Participant Care
  • Assist participants with activities of daily living, including:
    • Toileting
    • Bathing/showering
    • Dressing and grooming
    • Oral care
    • Eating assistance
    • Ambulation support
  • Assist with transfers using proper body mechanics and mechanical lift equipment when needed
  • Transport and escort participants throughout the center and to appointments
  • Obtain and record vital signs and weights
  • Monitor participant well-being and report changes in condition promptly
  • Support recreational and physical activities
  • Respond appropriately to participant alarms and safety needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records
  • Provide emotional support and build positive relationships with participants and families
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with nursing, dietary, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and care planning conferences
  • Support quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
  • Uphold participant rights, confidentiality, and organizational values
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred
  • Experience working with elderly, frail, or developmentally disabled populations
  • Previous food service experience
  • Experience in healthcare, senior care, assisted living, or adult day services
