Job description

Rowing Dock | Austin, Texas

Rowing Dock is the premier paddling destination on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. We offer kayak, canoe, and stand up paddleboard rentals in addition to guided tours, special events, and unique water-based experiences for individuals and groups.

Our team is the heart of our operation and the reason customers call the dock their favorite place in Austin. If you love being outside, enjoy sharing your passion for yoga and the outdoors, and thrive in a fun, customer-focused environment, Rowing Dock may be the perfect fit for you.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Floating Yoga Instructor to lead private and group floating yoga classes on Lady Bird Lake. This position is inquiry-based and ideal for someone who values flexibility, enjoys working outdoors, and is not seeking a consistent weekly schedule.

As a Floating Yoga Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience from start to finish. In addition to leading classes, you will manage all aspects of the floating yoga operation, including equipment setup and teardown, customer check-in, safety briefings, and escorting participants to and from the floating yoga platform.

This role requires a strong customer-service mindset, confidence on the water, and the ability to work independently while representing Rowing Dock in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead safe, engaging, and enjoyable floating yoga classes for guests of all experience levels
  • Set up and break down the floating yoga platform and all related equipment before and after each class
  • Ensure all participants are properly checked in and waivers are completed
  • Provide a thorough safety orientation and paddling instructions before launching
  • Assist guests with launching, boarding, and navigating their paddleboards safely
  • Escort participants to and from the floating yoga platform
  • Monitor participant safety throughout the entire experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for all guests
  • Maintain yoga and paddleboard equipment to company standards
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding scheduling, customer concerns, and operational needs
  • Adhere to all Rowing Dock policies, procedures, and safety standards
Who You Are

Please do not apply unless you meet ALL requirements below.

  • You have at least one year of yoga teaching experience
  • You have paddleboarding experience and feel comfortable on the water
  • You are confident managing groups in an outdoor environment
  • You have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • You enjoy interacting with people and creating positive guest experiences
  • You are comfortable working outside in the Texas heat
  • You are dependable, professional, and able to work independently
  • You have reliable transportation to and from work
  • You are available on weekends and holidays when classes are most likely to occur
  • You have flexible availability and understand that classes are scheduled by inquiry and demand
  • You enjoy being active, spending time outdoors, and sharing your passion for wellness
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Yoga Instructor Certification
  • Experience teaching paddleboard yoga or outdoor fitness classes
  • Previous experience in hospitality, recreation, guiding, or customer service
Schedule

This is a part-time, inquiry-based position.

Floating yoga classes are scheduled based on customer demand and private group bookings. Hours will vary from week to week and are not guaranteed. This role is ideal for someone seeking supplemental income, seasonal work, or a flexible schedule rather than consistent weekly hours.

Pay

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Perks
  • FREE rentals for staff
  • Work on beautiful Lady Bird Lake
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Opportunity to share your passion for yoga and the outdoors
  • Join a fun, supportive, and active team environment

If you're passionate about yoga, love being on the water, and enjoy creating memorable experiences for others, we'd love to hear from you. Join us in bringing one of Austin's most unique wellness experiences to life.
