What is a part time yoga instructor?

Part time yoga instructors are professionals who teach yoga classes on a part-time basis, often working a few classes or hours each week rather than full-time. They may teach at yoga studios, gyms, community centers, or even online. These instructors are responsible for leading students through yoga poses, offering modifications, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. Many part time instructors balance teaching with other jobs or responsibilities, and often hold certifications from recognized yoga organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time yoga instructor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Yoga Instructor, you need a solid understanding of yoga techniques, anatomy, and teaching principles, often supported by a recognized yoga teacher certification such as RYT 200. Familiarity with class management tools, online teaching platforms, and basic first aid certification is typically required. Excellent communication, motivational skills, and the ability to connect with diverse students are essential soft skills. These qualifications ensure safe, engaging, and effective classes that foster student growth and satisfaction.

How do part time yoga instructors typically balance teaching multiple classes with maintaining their own practice and professional development?

Part-time yoga instructors often juggle teaching commitments at various studios or gyms, which requires strong time management skills to avoid burnout. Many instructors schedule personal practice sessions outside of teaching hours to maintain their own well-being and deepen their skills. Additionally, they frequently invest in ongoing education through workshops or training programs to stay current with industry trends and enhance their teaching methods. Open communication with studio managers and flexibility in scheduling can help instructors maintain a healthy work-life balance and continue growing professionally.

Body Coach - Assisted Stretching & Movement Specialist
Personal Trainers | Physical Therapist Assistants | Exercise Science & Kinesiology Professionals | Massage Therapists | Pilates & Yoga Instructors
Help People Stay Strong, Move Well, and Keep Doing the Things They Love
StretchPlex is growing, and we're looking for exceptional people to join our team as Body Coaches.
This isn't a typical personal training or gym job. StretchPlex works one-on-one with adults who want to move better, remain active and independent, and continue doing the things that matter to them. Through assisted stretching, personal training, movement coaching and recovery services, our Body Coaches build lasting relationships and help clients make movement and strength a consistent part of life.
    Our mission is simple:
Stay strong. Move well. Keep doing the things you love
If that mission matters to you, we'd like to meet you.
What Makes a Great StretchPlex Body Coach?
Technical knowledge matters, but who you are matters just as much
The people who thrive at StretchPlex are:
Humble You care more about helping clients and supporting your team than receiving credit. You ask questions, accept coaching, admit mistakes and learn from others.
Hungry You're curious, motivated and eager to improve. You take responsibility, contribute to a growing company and don't need constant reminders about what needs to be done.
People-smart You genuinely enjoy connecting with people. You listen well, communicate clearly and understand that every client is different. You encourage without intimidating or judging.
Above all, our best Body Coaches genuinely care about people.
    What You'll Do
As a Body Coach, you'll take ownership of the client's StretchPlex experience from session to session.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Delivering safe, high-quality one-on-one assisted stretching sessions
    • Providing personal training or other services appropriate to your credentials
    • Learning each client's goals, limitations, preferences and reasons for coming to StretchPlex
    • Building relationships that help clients feel comfortable, supported and understood
    • Encouraging clients and celebrating meaningful progress
    • Maintaining accurate client notes
    • Helping clients stay consistent by scheduling future appointments
    • Recognizing when continued or expanded services may benefit a client and recommending appropriate next steps
    • Following up with clients and taking ownership of retention
    • Collaborating with Body Coaches, studio leadership and physical therapy partners
    • Maintaining a clean, safe and professional studio
    • Participating in team meetings, continuing education and StretchPlex training
    • Being accountable for your schedule, responsibilities and results

    Who We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds such as:
    • Certified Personal Trainer
    • Physical Therapist Assistant
    • Exercise Science or Kinesiology graduate
    • Licensed Massage Therapist
    • Pilates Instructor
    • Yoga Instructor
    • Athletic Trainer
    • Other movement, fitness or wellness professionals with relevant hands-on experience

Relevant certification and/or a four-year degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or a related field is preferred.
Credentials alone won't make someone successful here. You should also:
    • Enjoy working one-on-one with people
    • Be an excellent listener and communicator
    • Have empathy and patience
    • Be comfortable working with adults of different ages and ability levels
    • Be interested in mobility, strength, healthy aging and long-term wellness
    • Enjoy learning and receiving feedback
    • Be reliable, professional and accountable
    • Work well as part of a team
    • Be comfortable discussing continuing care and recommending appropriate services
    • Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
    • Believe a client's success matters more than your own ego

This May Not Be the Right Job for You If...
If you're primarily looking for a gym where you can train your own way, build a personal following, or simply complete appointments and go home, StretchPlex probably isn't the right fit.
Our Body Coaches communicate, keep learning, accept coaching, help one another and take responsibility for the overall client experience.
We're building something bigger than a collection of individual trainers.
    Training
Every new Body Coach completes the StretchPlex Body Coach Training Program, combining online education with in-person, hands-on training.
We'll teach you the StretchPlex system. We are looking for people who bring curiosity, professionalism and a desire to master it.
    Full-time and Part-time
    Benefits
    • Flexible scheduling
    • Health insurance for eligible employees
    • Paid time off for eligible employees
    • Professional development and continuing education
    • Opportunity to grow with an expanding health and wellness company

    Why StretchPlex?
StretchPlex is for people who want their work to have a deeper purpose.
You'll get to know your clients and help them continue playing golf, traveling, gardening, exercising, playing with grandchildren or simply moving through daily life with greater confidence.
    That's the work.
If you are curious, accountable, caring and excited about helping people stay strong, move well and keep doing the things they love, we'd love to hear from you.
