Job description

RVNAhealth is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our Philanthropy team. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, this role is responsible for researching, writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals that secure funding to advance RVNAhealth's mission of delivering exceptional home health, hospice, rehabilitation, wellness, and community health services throughout Fairfield and Litchfield Counties.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished grant writer who is passionate about nonprofit work and enjoys collaborating with leadership to develop compelling funding proposals that have a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

What You'll Do
As our Grant Writer, you will play a critical role in identifying funding opportunities and ensuring successful grant management from prospect research through post-award reporting.
Responsibilities include:
  • Research and identify government, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Partner with leadership and program teams to identify funding needs and develop competitive grant strategies.
  • Write compelling letters of inquiry, grant applications, narratives, and proposals to support existing and future programs.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop project budgets that accompany grant proposals.
  • Conduct research and analyze demographic, healthcare, and industry data to strengthen grant applications.
  • Manage a comprehensive grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submissions, renewals, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate follow-up activities for submitted proposals and funding opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final grant reports in accordance with grantor requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with foundations, corporations, and government funding agencies.
  • Assist the Development Team with timely donor acknowledgment and stewardship activities.
  • Work with the Development Associate to maintain accurate grant and donor records within the donor database.
  • Maintain organized grant files, correspondence, proposals, and reporting documentation.
  • Protect confidential organizational and donor information.
  • Support RVNAhealth's mission while modeling professionalism, collaboration, and inclusion in all interactions.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, strategic thinker, and collaborative professional who enjoys building relationships and securing funding for mission-driven organizations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional grant writing experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing grants from foundations, corporations, and/or government agencies.
  • Exceptional professional writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, interpret, and synthesize data.
  • Experience developing or collaborating on grant budgets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, donor database software, and the Candid grant research platform.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Passion for nonprofit fundraising and advancing community health initiatives.

Compensation:
Our target pay range for this position is $34.00 to $36.00 per hour. This pay range represents RVNAhealth's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate's exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
