As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at
William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital, you will deliver direct, high-quality nursing care to patients within our acute care state psychiatric facility. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed physician, you will oversee Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in delivering foundational patient care.
In this position, you will perform essential nursing duties-including administering medications, monitoring patient progress, recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). Assignments are based on-site at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, WV, with flexible duration options ranging from per diem shifts up to 12-month placements.

Example of Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, administering medications, and performing basic nursing duties.
- Work collaboratively under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or licensed physician to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Oversee and support health service workers and certified nursing assistants, ensuring quality care delivery.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and document progress.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care.
- Participate in maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff through monitoring, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention.
- Set up and maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring they are readily available and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
