Job description

South Elementary School is seeking a Part Time Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional and Lunch Monitor to work 22.5 hours a week.
This position will remain open until filled. 
The Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional is under the direction of the school principal, working with  the Special Education Educator, School Counselor, and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), to assist and monitor students who choose to visit the Wellness Room to reset, calm down, and/or refocus. Establishes effective rapport with students, listens, supports and directs them to additional help when needed. Professional relations are developed and maintained with other staff.




  • Monitors students that choose to enter the Wellness Room for support and help them to reset and return to class
  • Intake students as they come into the room and triage the situation to get additional support for the student if needed
  • Teach self regulation skills to students
  • Help students to reset and return to the classroom in order to continue learning.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for Wellness room management.
  • Help students and school staff understand the procedures of the Wellness room
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Wellness Room and all materials within the room
  • Assist in the purchase and replacement of materials as needed
  • Maintain appropriate records using Educators Handbook and other school-based record keeping requirements
  • Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
  • Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
