Job description

Flood Desk Examiner (1099 Independent Contractor)
Job Summary: Investigates and evaluates flood insurance claims. Examiners are responsible for determining if the insurance policy covers the loss, reviewing an adjuster's report for recommended repairs, and ensuring claims are not fraudulent. This role is a part time 1099 independent contractor role.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting thorough examinations of flood estimates and related documents by applying expert knowledge of the Standard Flood Insurance Policy (SFIP), Flood Claims Manual, and NFIP guidelines.
  • Assisting adjusters to submit fair and accurate recommendations of repairs based on covered and documented flood damage while identifying and articulating non-covered losses, and citing specific policy language to support claim decisions.
  • Proactively guiding adjusters, monitoring claim timelines, and status reports to ensure efficient resolution.
  • Communicating with clients, adjusters, policyholders, and other stakeholders regarding claim status and recommendations.
  • Working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Identifying, addressing, and reporting to appropriate parties all potential subrogation, salvage, or fraudulent activities, and providing expert evaluations on special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Pass background check.
  • Experienced in flood claims adjusting or examination with an FCN.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Must possess investigative, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; BS degree is a plus.
  • Identify, analyze and solve problems with a high degree of accuracy, detail and follow-through.

Special Requirements:
Must possess a personal laptop or desktop computer with Microsoft Word and Excel, consistent access to high-speed internet, and a smartphone with text, internet, and email capabilities.
