Job description

Overview
The Property Field Adjuster is a part-time W-2 position responsible for investigating and evaluating daily property claims for clients pursuant to client and company direction. This role provides timely, accurate, fair, and professional service to clients and insured parties while maintaining a high level of quality and production.
This position utilizes a commission-based compensation structure with an hourly wage guarantee. Adjusters are paid the greater of their eligible clocked-hour wages or earned commissions for the applicable pay period.
Essential Functions:
  • Handles all assigned claims promptly and effectively, with minimal need for direction and oversight.
  • Inspects damaged property and determines claim-related damage.
  • Makes decisions within delegated authority as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Understands insurance coverage and applies appropriate claims practices to resolve claims in alignment with company and carrier guidelines.
  • Sets and relays adequate reserves according to carrier guidelines.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance policies and carrier guidelines.
  • Maintains current knowledge of local industry repair procedures and market pricing.
  • Submits severe incident reports, insured-to-value (ITV) reports, and other information to claims management as needed.
  • Delivers an outstanding customer service experience to all internal, external, current, and prospective customers. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing outstanding claims service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must possess a valid adjuster license for the state(s) in which claims are handled, where required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel to insured locations.
  • 2-3 years of property claims adjusting experience required.
  • Experience preparing estimates using Symbility required; Xactimate experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies, theories, practices, and claims-handling procedures.
  • General understanding of construction concepts and principles strongly preferred.
  • Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, access attics and crawlspaces, inspect roofs, kneel, bend, and perform other activities necessary to complete property inspections.
  • Must complete continuing education requirements necessary to maintain applicable adjuster licensing.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work within specific client guidelines regarding service timelines, documentation, and estimate preparation.

Employment & Compensation:
  • Employment Type: Part-Time, W-2
  • Schedule: Hours and workload may vary based on claim volume, client needs, and assignment availability.
  • Compensation Structure: Adjusters are paid the greater of eligible clocked-hour wages or earned commissions. If earned commissions do not exceed the applicable clocked-hour wages, the employee will receive the clocked-hour wages in accordance with the established compensation structure.
  • Timekeeping: Adjusters are required to accurately clock in and out and record all eligible working time, including drive time beginning with the first mile and time spent on-site handling assigned claims.
  • Mileage Reimbursement: Eligible mileage is reimbursed beginning with the first mile in accordance with the company's mileage reimbursement policy and applicable client billing requirements.
  • Phone Reimbursement: Eligible part-time W-2 adjusters receive a monthly phone reimbursement. The reimbursement is included in the first paycheck of the month following a month in which hours were worked.
  • Claim volume, hours, and assignment availability may fluctuate and are not guaranteed.
