CALMRA serves adults, age 18 years or older, with cognitive disabilities in Prince Georgeโ€™s and Montgomery County, Maryland. Many of the individuals we serve also have physical disabilities. These individuals require 24-hour assistance in all areas of living; eating, bathing, dressing, transportation, etc. Individuals live with one or two housemates and receive support from trained, paid, and caring staff. CALMRA also operates a Senior Center in Laurel, MD to provide day services to seniors or those with age-related disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and/or physical disabilities.

Essential Job Functions

A. Program Planning:
โ€ข Implement all plans as written.
โ€ข Complete all data on time, accurately.
โ€ข Implement behavior change programs.
โ€ข Complete incident reports on time and accurately.
B. Household Management:
โ€ข Maintain cleanliness, attractiveness, comfort of home.
โ€ข Report any repair needs to the CLS or full time staff.
โ€ข Assist with cleanliness of the house.
โ€ข Ensure that all residents maintain clean clothes.
C. Maintain Health and Safety Standards
โ€ข Arrange for any emergency medical needs.
โ€ข Accurately administer and document medication administration.
โ€ข Encourage, instruct good hygiene and personal practices.
โ€ข Maintain rapport with residents, follow work schedule on a consistent basis to assist residents and house operations.
โ€ข Lift, transfer, and position residents safely, as needed. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
D. Health Monitoring
โ€ข Observe residents to ensure their safety and well being.
โ€ข Reposition residents if necessary.
โ€ข Maintain cleanliness of residents and the home.
โ€ข Maintain proper data as necessary.
โ€ข Report and medical concerns immediately to CLS/nurse.
E. Community Participation and Leisure Skill Development
โ€ข Ensure frequent, consistent outings and activities based on individual interests.
โ€ข Ensure that residents dress appropriately.
โ€ข Ensure that residents are properly groomed.
โ€ข Ensure the consistent use of generic community resources.
โ€ข Ensure that residents have opportunities to entertain friends, family at home.
โ€ข Ensure that residents are provided opportunities to participate in religious activities of their choice.
โ€ข Ensure that household maintains positive, friendly rapport with neighbors.
โ€ข Ensure that household and residents maintain appropriate contact with family members.
โ€ข Assist residents in developing appropriate at-home leisure activities.
F. Communication
โ€ข Develop an interactive, positive relationship with the individuals you work with.
โ€ข Develop an ongoing relationship with the individualโ€™s family members. Provide family members with current information as they desire.
โ€ข Provide the resources to the individuals you are working with to develop relationships outside of their home.
G. Other duties assigned by CLS or Program Administrator
