These jobs often offer flexible hours and are common in industries like retail, customer service, administration, and education. They are ideal for individuals looking to balance work with personal commitments, such as students, parents, or retirees. Hours and schedules vary by employer, so it's important to check specific job postings for details.

What is a typical work schedule like for a part time weekday position?

Part Time Weekday positions usually involve working set hours during the weekdays, often ranging from morning to early evening shifts depending on the employer's needs. The exact days and hours can vary, but schedules tend to provide consistency, allowing you to plan your other commitments around your work hours. Many employers offer flexibility within these roles, which can be ideal for students, parents, or those seeking supplemental income. You'll typically be given your schedule in advance and may have opportunities to swap shifts or pick up extra hours if desired. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team help individuals excel in this role. These skills ensure that part-time weekday employees can efficiently perform their duties, offer flexibility to employers, and maintain a positive work environment.

Job description

Part-Time Physical Therapist Assistant – Flexible Weekday Schedule

AID Performance Physical Therapy | Ashburn, Virginia
Outpatient Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
Approximately 12–20 hours per week, with additional hours available
Pay: $32–$38 per hour, based on experience and schedule commitment

AID Performance Physical Therapy is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who wants a consistent, genuinely part-time position in an independent outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine clinic.

This opportunity may be an excellent fit for an experienced PTA returning to patient care, balancing work with family or other responsibilities, or looking to add predictable outpatient hours to an existing PRN schedule.

We can structure the position around two or three recurring weekday blocks, including hours that align with the school day. Additional hours may be available but are not required.

About the Position

The PTA will primarily provide follow-up treatments after the clinic owner has completed the patient’s evaluation and established the plan of care.

You will work collaboratively with the supervising physical therapist to implement and progress appropriate interventions, collect objective measurements, monitor patient responses, and communicate changes in clinical status.

The clinic owner will remain responsible for evaluations, reevaluations, plans of care, discharge decisions, and overall management of each patient’s physical therapy care.

Why Work at AID Performance PT?
  • Predictable, recurring weekday schedule

  • School-day hours available

  • No weekend requirement

  • Maximum of two patients scheduled per hour

  • Primarily orthopedic and sports patients

  • Return-to-sport and performance rehabilitation

  • VALD ForceDecks and DynaMo objective testing

  • Blood Flow Restriction training

  • AI-assisted documentation support to reduce charting time

  • Direct clinical collaboration and mentorship from the clinic owner

  • Independent clinic environment without corporate productivity quotas

  • Opportunity to add hours in the future, without an expectation that the position become full-time

Schedule

We are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent weekly schedule rather than availability that changes from week to week.

Potential arrangements include:

  • Two weekdays from approximately 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

  • Three shorter school-day shifts

  • One or two longer weekday blocks

  • Another consistent schedule that works for both the clinician and the clinic

Our initial target is approximately 12–20 hours per week. Candidates interested in as many as 25 hours may also be considered. Afternoon or evening hours may be available but are not required.

Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized plans of care established by the supervising physical therapist

  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, functional activities, and other appropriate interventions

  • Progress treatments within the established plan of care and the PTA’s scope of practice

  • Monitor patient responses and communicate meaningful changes to the supervising physical therapist

  • Collect objective measurements and treatment data when appropriate

  • Assist patients in progressing toward functional, recreational, and return-to-sport goals

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation with AI-scribe support

  • Communicate effectively with patients and the clinical team

  • Help maintain a supportive, organized, and patient-first clinic environment

Qualifications
  • Active or eligible Virginia Physical Therapist Assistant license

  • Current BLS/CPR certification

  • Outpatient orthopedic or sports experience preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Dependability and commitment to a consistent recurring schedule

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the supervising physical therapist

  • Comfort working with active adults, athletes, and orthopedic patients

Compensation

$32–$38 per hour, based on clinical experience, recurring availability, and schedule commitment.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  1. Your résumé or LinkedIn profile

  2. A brief note describing your preferred recurring days and hours

  3. A short explanation of what you are looking for in a part-time PTA position

We welcome experienced PTAs, clinicians returning to outpatient practice, and physical therapist assistants seeking a better balance between excellent patient care and life outside the clinic.
