We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a A/V Technician. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The AV Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment used for concerts, meetings, conventions, presentations, conferences, and special events. Equipment may include microphones, speakers, projectors, video displays, recording equipment, sound systems, mixing consoles, lighting systems, and related electronic equipment.

The following duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Perform daily inspections, adjustments, preventative maintenance, and repairs of audio-visual equipment throughout the facility, including building, infield, and barn areas.
  • Set up, operate, and support audio-visual equipment for meetings, events, presentations, conferences, and special functions.
  • Install, service, test, program, and troubleshoot a variety of audio-visual and video conferencing systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment, cabling, and system-related issues.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of AV systems within assigned venues and event spaces.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, external vendors, and guests to ensure all audio-visual requirements are met and events run smoothly.
  • Conduct routine room inspections and equipment checks, including scheduled preventative maintenance and lamp-life monitoring.
  • Perform system power-up and power-down procedures as required, including occasional after-hours support.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of portable AV equipment and ensure equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use.
  • Manage video monitors, televisions, and digital displays, including programming and updating television channels, music selections, and in-house content in public and back-of-house areas.
  • Provide replacement equipment as needed to minimize service interruptions.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects, support operations, and respond to emergencies.
  • Interact professionally with guests during AV setup, operation, and event support.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Oaklawn's Core Values and Standards of Behavior.
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience mounting flat-screen televisions, speakers, and related AV equipment.
  • Understanding of cable routing and wire installation through conduit.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • 3+ years' experience in position with similar responsibilities
  • Excellent technical knowledge of teleconferencing, presentation and other AV hardware.
  • Mechanically and electronically inclined.
  • Knowledge of proper cabling installation and termination procedures
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Working knowledge of audio and visual conference room equipment.
  • Experience on multiple operating system platforms (Windows and/or Mac).
  • Data/LCD & HD projection, sound, integrated control systems and video conferencing, telephone conferencing equipment and presentation software.
  • ISDN, VoIP and other telecommunications networks and equivalent.
  • Experience with Q-SYS, Dante, and Samsung Reach software.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively and often independently.
  • Must be able to handle several projects and tasks at the same time.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport AV equipment safely.
  • Ability to erect and dismantle scaffolding as needed.
  • Ability to work at heights and in elevated spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Oaklawn Jockey Club.
