Job:
Admissions Graduate Assistant
The Admissions Graduate Assistant position provides a current graduate student with hands-on professional experience in higher education administration, with specific exposure to many areas of the admissions process at Barnard College. They will contribute to the Office's efforts in recruiting and selecting the most outstanding candidates for admission to Barnard College. This role contributes to customer service operations, event planning, recruitment and application review.
Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under direction of the Director of Admissions, this role will:
1. Engage with prospective students and hold information sessions with families about Barnard and the admissions process
2. Respond to and monitor telephone and email-based inquiries regarding the admissions process and academic programs available at Barnard.
3. Assist with planning and staffing virtual, local and off-campus recruitment (high schools, college fairs, workshops, etc.)
4. Assist with arrangements for open house and fly-in programs in the fall and recruitment events for admitted students in the spring
5. Read and evaluate applications for first-year and transfer applicants.
6. Assist with preliminary transfer credit evaluations
7. Other administrative duties and projects as assigned
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
An understanding of the values of a liberal arts education for women and the ability to articulate these values effectively is also essential
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Strong presentation and public speaking skills
Willingness and availability to work some evenings and/or weekends for on-campus programming
Computer skills:
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Slate preferred.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Graduate Program, preferably within a higher education field.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
