CADD/Transportation Designer


Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars has a great part-time opportunity for a CADD/Designer at our Dallas office with the opportunity to convert to a full-time role. The candidate will have 5+ years minimum drafting experience with MicroStation or various other design software. Experience with TxDOT PS&E plan development experience including roadway, traffic control, signing & striping, drainage, SW3P, design cross sections and quantity calculations, is a significant plus. Candidate needs experience with 3D modeling and preparation of presentations. OpenRoads Experience not required but is preferred.

Reports to: Greg Vowels

Employment Type: 30-39 hours/week

Compensation Type: Hourly

Education: Associate degree or equivalent in CADD/Drafting, Engineering Technology, 3D Modeling, and/or Bentley certifications


Duties:

  • Utilize Deltek Vantagepoint for updating project entries and contract modifications while working closely with accounting to ensure projects have everything necessary for set up.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and/or sub-consultants to obtain insurance certificates based on specific project contract requirements.
  • Review, processing, data entry, and tracking of subcontractor invoices
  • Support project accountants following up on collections and updating project records.
  • Document management; project file set up, maintenance and archiving.
  • Maintains strong moral principles and high level of sensitivity with confidential information.
  • Assist the accounting team with other special projects, as needed.

  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
  • Productively collaborates with others and leads or encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
  • Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office.
  • Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
  • Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in CADD/Drafting, Engineering Technology, 3D Modeling, and/or Bentley certifications. Comparable experience working in BIM, Gaming, Surveying, or other 3D Model Industry will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience as a CADD Designer or CADD Manager in the Civil Engineering field working with modeling software is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation PowerGeopak is required. AutoCADD, Civil3D, 3dsmax, Unreal Engine, Revit, and Rhino3d, experience are all a plus.
  • Experience or the ability to learn to create realistic 3D renderings and animations using Bentley’s rendering solutions through the conversion of CADD data is a significant plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with CADD users across multiple offices.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects such as roadway, interchanges, airports, and corporate buildings for DOTs and local governments is a significant plus.
  • Having an open mind and desire grow, learning new processes, software and skills.
  • On occasion, develop complex 3D models, layouts, drawings, and designs from written or verbal specifications, from rough or detailed sketches, or drawings.
  • Interact with Bentley support to escalate and resolve any software issues.
  • Implement and ensure a high level of competency, accuracy and efficiency in digital project delivery.
  • Available for occasional travel.

This position will office out of our Dallas, TX location in a 'Class A' office space including a state-of-the-art gym (no cost), covered parking, food court, and more.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
