Job description

Job Summary: The Data Engineer supports T3i's Integrated Analytics effort by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure, automated data pipelines, and enterprise data solutions that enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and operational decision support. Data Engineers serve as the technical foundation of the analytics ecosystem, integrating data from operational, training, medical, personnel, and human performance systems into secure, reliable, and accessible data products. This position requires strong software engineering and coding expertise, with demonstrated experience developing data pipelines, APIs, cloud-based architectures, and automated workflows. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with large, complex datasets and modern data engineering tools within government, defense, or operational environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and integrating data from multiple source systems
  • Build and support enterprise data architectures including data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts
  • Develop automated workflows using Python, SQL, and modern orchestration tools to improve data quality, accessibility, and reliability
  • Engineer integrations between operational systems, training systems, human performance platforms, and business applications
  • Participate in field and in-garrison data collection efforts and ensure continuous syncing of new data into dashboards
  • Support ad-hoc reporting requests and provide analytic insight into trends, risks, and actionable factors
  • Document dashboard logic, data dictionaries, and usage guidance to ensure transparency and reproducibility
  • Coordinate with Senior Data Engineer and PM to ensure dashboards align with strategic priorities and leadership needs

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS)
  • Demonstrated experience building predictive models and conducting advanced statistical analysis
  • Strong experience with business intelligence tools, particularly Power BI
  • Familiarity with DoD systems of record (e.g., Envision, TTMS, ADSS, MHS GENESIS)
  • Experience supporting AETC, SOF/AFSPECWAR, or equivalent programs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Familiarity with Air Education and Training Command (AETC) and/or AFSPECWAR
  • Experience with prominent DoW programs
  • Familiarity with Palantir Envision and/or Foundry platforms
  • Prior military service or direct experience supporting operational units

Personnel who cannot pass drug screening are not eligible for employment with T3i.
