Job description

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor seeks qualified Christian employees for this position.
This is a part-time teacher position in the UMHB Arts Academy.
Under the direction of the Director of the Arts Academy, the string teacher provides instruction in Violin, Viola, Cello and/or String Bass through private lessons and group classes. The Arts Academy string teacher will offer professional guidance and instruction to students of all ages and levels, and will teach with knowledge and expertise.
Work schedule will depend on the number of students assigned to each teacher, with primary teaching hours to be after school (2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday. Some weekend special events/performances will be required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University's mission and who will be an active participant in their local church.
  • Experience in music or related field required.
  • Ability to teach all ages of string instrument study.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in playing string instruments.
  • Experience in ensemble participation required.
  • Must be reliable and dependable in keeping lesson times and in communicating with students and parents when cancellations or changes in schedules must be made.
  • Ability to relate personally to students and parents in a cordial and professional manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and work independently as needed.
  • Excellent time management skills necessary.
  • Must agree to the University's Employee Statement of Understanding.
