Job description

Long-term, year-round position!
Position Summary:
The Physical Therapy Technician supports licensed physical therapists in delivering patient care by assisting with therapeutic exercises, preparing treatment areas, and ensuring a safe, efficient clinical environment. This role plays a key part in helping patients progress through their rehabilitation plans. Assists with clerical duties to maintain efficient operations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Performs to service excellence standards:
• Responds promptly, professionally and courteously to all customers' needs.
• Cooperates and communicates effectively with all patients, families and staff.
• Contributes to continuous quality improvement efforts.
2. Prepares examining rooms including turning on computer terminals and stocks room with supplies.
• Set up and clean treatment areas before and after patient sessions
• Sanitize equipment and maintain infection control standards
• Maintain inventory of supplies and notify staff of low-stock items
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly
3. Organizes forms, paper charts, Generate HEP.
4. Works collaboratively with provider to assists in providing care to patients:
  • Collect patient's history, as requested.
  • Prepares patient and necessary equipment/supplies for visit.

• Assist patients with prescribed therapeutic exercises under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Monitor patients during exercises and report concerns or changes to the Physical Therapist
• Escort patients to and from treatment areas and assist with positioning
• Prepare patients for therapy sessions
5. With focus on customer service, takes telephone messages from patients, returns messages, and provides information to others as requested/directed.
6. Functions collaboratively with all staff to ensure continuity of care.
7. Maintains clinician schedule with timely starting of each patient per appointment times.
8. May schedule patient appointments as directed.
9. Assists and escorts patients as needed to exam rooms and onto/off from exam tables.
10. As needed, provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to departmental standards, as evidenced by observation, documentation, and feedback.
11. Performs various clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reports, and patient information; typing letters, forms, and labels, etc.
12. Organizes time and prioritizes effectively.
13. Maintains strict confidentiality related to patient information.
14. Regular and punctual attendance.
15. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and maintains accreditation standards.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent and interest in the field of Physical Therapy Technician.
