ABOUT
The Part-Time Interpreter/Captionist is a part-time position responsible to the Coordinator, Hearing Loss Services and Director, Disability Services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provision of real-time note-taking services in lecture and lab setting
  • Provision of transcription and copy-typing services as requested
  • Provision of AV closed captioning
  • Provision of test reading, and test proctoring services
Competencies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to provide notetaker/captionist services for students with varying disabilities in a post-secondary educational environment
  • Knowledge and skills to operate a computer for basic office tasks
  • Willing to work flexible hours (including some evenings & weekends)
  • Possess independent and creative thinking, and initiative in seeing projects to completion
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills; excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to meet goals and work effectively in a "team" environment
  • Must be able to self-regulate according to a daily schedule of assignments and implement problem solving within set boundaries
  • Must respect confidentiality and maintain courtesy in dealing with students, faculty, staff and visitors
  • Familiarity with disability accommodations preferred. Job Training (upon hiring) required

RETIREMENT
Part-Time Retirement

Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The plan will provide you and your beneficiary with fully vested cash settlement or income benefits after termination of employment for any reason.
