Job Overview

Our organization is seeking a dedicated Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Provider to conduct medical evaluations for United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This role is essential in ensuring that veterans receive the assessments they need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical health records via a secure web portal.
  • Conduct thorough assessments for each veteran.
  • Complete Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs) through the web portal, which are specific forms developed by the VA.
  • Document examination findings required by the VA in the DBQs.
  • Note that this position does not involve making disability determinations; all such decisions are made by the VA.
  • This role is strictly for assessment purposes and does not include treatment.
  • On average, assess four veterans per day.
Schedule

This is a part-time position requiring two days of work each week.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Interested in conducting Independent Medical Assessments rather than traditional patient care and treatment.
  • View independent medical assessments as a role focused on medical fact-finding and investigation.
  • Willing to dedicate at least 50% of the workday to reviewing medical records and documenting exam findings electronically.
  • Skilled at identifying key data points within extensive electronic medical records.
  • Able to analyze information from medical records and examination results to complete DBQs and formulate medical opinions.
  • Typing proficiency is essential for this role.
  • Strong time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Completed DBQs must be submitted within 24 hours following an examination.
  • Passionate about serving veterans in the community.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid license as a Physiatrist.
  • Board Certification in either Neurological Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), or Psychiatry and Neurology is required.
